For Schools & Educators
Tutorio exists to extend the excellent work that schools do.
Not to replace it.
We work in the language of schools — NESA marking rubrics, IB assessment criteria, school-based assessment weighting — so that what happens in our sessions connects directly to what is being assessed in the classroom.
Our Position
We step in where classroom teaching cannot reach.
We have enormous respect for the English, Maths, and Science teachers working in Sydney's secondary schools. They are doing a difficult job under significant constraints — large classes, broad curricula, and limited time to give individual students the depth of attention that some of them need.
When a student needs to spend 40 minutes on one ICE table problem until the logic becomes intuitive — that is not something a classroom of 28 can accommodate. It is exactly what we are here for.
Schools We Work With
Students from across Sydney's Inner West corridor.
We currently support students from a number of schools across the Inner West and broader Sydney area, including:
For Educators
Heads of Science and classroom teachers are welcome to reach out directly.
We see ourselves as part of a broader educational ecosystem — and we are committed to supporting, not undermining, the relationships students have with their schools and teachers. If you would like to understand more about how we support your students, we welcome the conversation.
Our Commitment to Schools
I am training to be a teacher. That changes how I think about this.
As a candidate in the Master of Teaching (Secondary) at Australian Catholic University — and as the recipient of a Commonwealth Government Teaching Grant and an All Points to Teaching Scholarship — I am acutely aware of the professional and ethical boundaries between private tutoring and classroom teaching. I am not just aware of them. I believe in them.
My commitment is straightforward: I will never privately tutor a student from any school where I am currently teaching or on placement. If a family from a placement school approaches Tutorio, I refer them to another member of our team without exception. The integrity of the classroom relationship comes first — full stop.
I am proud of this approach. It is not a policy I was asked to adopt — it is one I chose. School leaders are welcome to speak with me directly about it at any time.
